The V60 Drip-Assist Set is a helpful tool designed to simplify the coffee brewing process. Whether you’re a home barista or a professional, this set can help you improve brew consistency by controlling the dispersion pattern and rate. Here are some key features of the V60 Drip-Assist:
-
Two Types of Hole Design: The Drip-Assist features holes of two different sizes. These holes help regulate your pouring speed. The smaller holes in the exterior ring gently shower the coffee bed, ensuring ideal brewing conditions without the need for a gooseneck kettle.
-
Water Flow Control: When you pour water into the Drip-Assist, it flows into the central section if the outer ring is full. This feature allows you to measure your recipe accurately and adjust your brewing process accordingly.
-
Original Recipe by Pete Licata:
- For 18-24g of coffee grounds, use 300-400mL of water at 92°C. After pouring 50-70mL into the center part for bloom, pour the rest of the hot water into the outer ring, allowing excess water to flow over the center holes.
- For 25-30g of coffee grounds, use 400-500mL of water at 92°C. After pouring 70-85mL into the center part for bloom, fill the outer ring, pause to drain under half full, and repeat until the desired water dose is reached.

Pete Licata’s Perspective: Pete Licata, the 2013 World Barista Champion and 2011 US Barista Champion, emphasizes using the center, high-speed holes for bloom and the exterior holes for brewing. You can either pulse brew or continuously pour water. Occasionally pouring water into the center holes ensures even interaction with the coffee bed.
Whether you’re a coffee enthusiast or a professional barista, the V60 Drip-Assist Set can enhance your brewing experience and help you achieve consistent, high-quality coffee.
